Description
This is not an Arizona Sonoran Desert native flower or even wildflower. This is your common Petunia which can be bought at any local garden depot to my knowledge. I had a hanging basket full of them that I bought from Home Depot, and never in my life have I ever seen a more hardy and resilient flower. It was a variety of delicate pink and white flowers that stayed in full bloom from mid-March to mid-July, even in three-digit desert heat in direct sunlight as long as I watered them every day. I normally would never purchase a non-native plant, but I did this as an extra treat for my birds and bees. Turns out, they were not nearly as impressed as I was. Nevertheless, I am a devoted fan now, and vow to keep and nurture this beautiful “Petunia Power” in the desert for as long as I can!
